The Beginning

So I have decided on an approach for this CD for now. It's not rocket science, as it is my understanding of how many artists produce their CDs. Right now I am starting the pre-production phase. For me that means getting all the songs in with a scratch piano or acoustic guitar (sometimes both) and then some scratch vocals and drums loops. I will be getting them all in (probably more songs than I will actually record) so that I can see how some of the songs sound with a little more production around them. I was surprised how much some of the songs I thought might not make it last CD really came alive early in the bed track phase. I have already started one of the tunes (as a way to learn the new equipment as well) and I am really pleased with the results.

Obviously I will keep you all up to date on the progress. Pretty early in what will undoubtedly be a 6 to 9 month project, but such is the part-time CD producing life.
